Complete your Duke of Ed Training and Practice with The School of Yak

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a worldwide self-development program for young people aged 14-25 years. Through a series of personal challenges, participants will gain valuable life skills.
The award consists of three levels, bronze, silver and gold. Each of these levels has four sections, physical recreation, skill, service and adventurous journey. The School of Yak can provide you with everything you need to complete your training and practice for the adventurous journey at either Bronze, Silver or Gold award level.

Sea Kayak Expeditions: Our Duke of Edinburgh programs are developed with your group to ensure the desired outcomes for all participants. We provide youth participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award with the opportunity to learn new skills and to grow as individuals in a safe and fun learning environment with highly experienced instructors who care about your success.

Completing your Training - Practice Journey
Award participants are required to undertake a training and practice journey, where they will learn to plan and complete an entire journey on their own. The training course and practice journey can be conducted as a combined training/practice program or as two separate programs.

Conducting the Training and Practice program: We provide all the kayaks and safety equipment you need to complete your training and practice program as well as our instructor, who will accompany you throughout the journey. We set reasonable paddling distances with plenty of stops for lessons or to complete other aspects of your Duke of Edinburgh related activities. We focus on the training you need to not only be successful in your final qualifying journey but also on introducing youth to the joy and independence sea kayaking brings.
