The Hunter River is simply a great place to just paddle along and forget the rush of life for a while. In this half day kayak tour, we will paddle through some of the rarely visited corners of the Hunter Wetlands National Park very few people ever see, and just enjoy messing about in boats. Your river-guide Glenn combines the stories of a lifetime spent on the ocean with historical explanations of the Hunter River and the role it has played in the development of modern Australia and in his own life.
Lying at rest in the waters off the shoreline of one of the islands are the remains of an old shipwreck, another reflection of the long maritime history of the Hunter River now left to the elements. In the bird sanctuary of Fullerton Cove, most days we see white bellied sea eagles in the mangrove canopy or flying overhead in search of prey. The Hunter Wetlands National Park is an important stopover for many migrating birds in the spring and summer months with more than 200 known varieties documented.

No matter where you decide to paddle with The School of Yak it’s always a great adventure, call us anytime to discuss your options for the day
