Visitors and locals to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley Region will delight at the incredible diversity of the region as they paddle through the mangrove forests and explore the unique waterways of The Hunter Wetlands National Park. Our kayak eco-tours are conducted in the Hunter River around Fullerton Cove, Kooragang Island and Ash Island which abounds with natural flora and fauna. In particular this RAMSAR listed wetland has a high number of migrating birds, with over 30 known species visiting annually and is Australia's largest coastal estuarine wetland. Most afternoons White Bellied Sea Eagles can be observed, either in flight or in the canopy of the mangrove forest and in the summer months migrating birds are seen feeding on the mud flats. The best way to explore the Hunter Wetlands without disturbance to the wildlife is by kayak. A paddler can quietly glide along the shallow creeks for hours and celebrate this beautiful and unique place without ever leaving a trace of their passing.
