Popular with local kayakers Cockle Creek is located at the Northern end of Lake Macquarie.
Starting from the very scenic Speers Point Park paddlers will travel along Cockle Creek under the Five Islands Bridge to the extremity of the navigable waterway, stopping at the weir. Where “The Weir Road” crosses Cockle Creek near the township of Barnsley we will take a break and allow time for people to enjoy the natural bushland before we return along this lovely unsung waterway to our start point.
For those who are a bit short on time why not try our 2 hour Get-away paddle. After the pre trip briefing we head of along “The Creek” as far as time allows with a turnaround at the one hour mark. Cockle Creek is simply a great place to just paddle along and forget the rush of life for a while.
