At the southern end of Lake Macquarie you will find a lovely little village nestled on the side of it’s namesake Dora Creek. The “creek tour” starts from the shoreline of Lake Macquarie at the mouth of Dora Creek and then makes its way past the waterfront homes and jetties of locals living along the waterway. It’s not long though before we pass out of civilisation and enter the forest found growing along each side of Dora Creek. Once in the forested area the hustle of the nearby Pacific Motorway is soon left behind and the paddler finds themselves kayaking one of Lake Macquarie’s hidden secrets.
